Position Summary Shipper & Receiver – Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing all shipping, receiving, and material handling activities. This role leads, trains, and coordinates warehouse staff while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to safety and operational standards. The role also supports production flow by ensuring timely material distribution and maintaining accurate inventory control.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
Leadership & Coordination (Lead Role) Lead, train, mentor, and motivate Shipper/Receivers and Material Handlers Coordinate daily warehouse activities and workflow Confirm daily attendance and report absences to management Promote a safety-first culture and act as a Health & Safety Champion Warehouse Operations Oversee and perform shipping, receiving, sorting, and material distribution for all departments Safely load and offload shipments using forklifts Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and damage Ensure all materials are properly processed and recorded in ERP systems Coordinate transportation methods and ensure complete shipping documentation Inventory & Materials Management Conduct and coordinate inventory control and cycle counts Monitor stock levels and ensure material availability for production Manage picklists and parts picking processes Distribute materials according to production schedules Continuous Improvement & Reporting Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness Compile and provide operational reports as required Support continuous improvement mindset across warehouse operations Communication & Problem Resolution Communicate discrepancies with suppliers and internal teams Resolve shipping and receiving issues in a timely manner Coordinate product returns and customer deliveries Additional Responsibilities Prepare and process returns to suppliers or customers Perform packaging, including handling fragile parts in boxes and skids Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications Secondary School Diploma 5–7 years of shipping & receiving experience Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a warehouse environment Experience with RF scanners and ERP systems Forklift certification (Counterbalance & Raymond Reach) · Experience preparing shipping documents i.e. Bills of Lading, customs documentation etc. Additional Skills Experience with picklists, metal parts handling, and detailed parts picking Experience packaging fragile parts safely Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision
