About Brucejack Our Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in beautiful northern British Columbia, is located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. We work closely with local First Nations communities including the Nisga’a, Tahltan, Gitanyow, and Gitxsan, to build respectful partnerships and celebrate our shared community. Our Brucejack Recreation Committee, run by employees on a volunteer basis, organizes activities and events to make camp life fun and bring people together. Your Impact As the Director, Health, Safety & Environment, you will provide strategic leadership for all health, safety, and environmental programs at Brucejack Mine. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to ensure regulatory compliance, manage operational risk, and foster a culture where safety, health, and environmental stewardship are integrated into every aspect of the operation. As Part of Our Team, You Will Lead the development and execution of site-specific HSE strategies, objectives, and improvement plans aligned with Newmont standards and business priorities. Oversee regulatory compliance, governance activities, audits, and assurance programs to meet internal and external requirements. Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, government agencies, contractors, and community stakeholders. Monitor and analyze HSE performance trends, identify risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies. Provide technical leadership and guidance on operational risk controls, incident investigations, and event management. Partner closely with site leadership to proactively manage HSE risks and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing HSE team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth. Support regulatory, sustainability, and enterprise reporting requirements through accurate data collection and monitoring systems. Champion a culture of inclusion, engagement, and visible safety leadership across the operation. Ensure compliance with all relevant Newmont Health & Safety procedures and other applicable policies. Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Extensive experience leading health, safety, and environmental programs within mining or other heavy industrial operations. Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Experience managing regulator relationships, compliance programs, and incident investigations. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams in complex operational environments. Proficiency in risk management, change management, project management, and data-driven decision-making. Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills. Experience working in remote mining environments is considered an asset. Your Work Environment Remote camp setting with private accommodations provided Onsite meals, gym, recreation, and entertainment facilities Travel allowance and transportation arrangements included Rotational schedule: 13 days on / 13 days off Drug & alcohol-free workplace (pre-employment testing required) The Brucejack Operations team is now recruiting for the position of Director, Health, Safety & Environment with a competitive base salary between $153,600 – $219,400 / year, with an additional short-term incentive of 30% and a long-term incentive of 25%. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
