About the role

Who we are? The Primary Construction Team consists of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc. (ACCIONA) and Amico Major Projects Inc. (Amico), as Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP).

What is the project? The Ontario Line (“OL”) is a fully integrated, stand-alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (“NC”) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design-build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (“EGS”) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (“PTUS”), with supporting Early Works.

What is the Opportunity? The Utilities Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the relocation, protection, and installation of wet and dry utilities, including traffic signals and streetlighting systems. The role involves overseeing engineering and construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, and City regulations. Additionally, the Utilities Coordinator monitors project documentation, supervise onsite activities, and facilitates collaboration among stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities • Coordinate and manage relocations and installations of wet and dry utilities including, Streetlighting and traffic signals systems. • Supervise engineering and construction activities, ensuring compliance with established project and city standards/specs. • Attend and participate in meetings with internal teams, external consultants, and municipal agencies to ensure alignment on project goals and utility integration. • Contribute to the development of comprehensive construction plans, overseeing subcontractor activities to ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets. • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for utility-related work. • Lead initiatives to enhance productivity; monitor subcontractor performance to ensure project plans and schedules are met. • Track and collect essential documentation for additional work, submittals, and billing backup, as well as monitor project schedule activity, including milestones. • Oversee Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigations and conduct Condition Surveys. • Perform other related duties as assigned, promoting a positive team environment and a culture of collaboration.

You’ll bring to the Team (Knowledge, Skills, Competencies) • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Municipal Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent college diploma combined with relevant experience will also be considered. • Minimum 2 years of experience in reviewing technical drawings and reports related to utility projects. • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, familiarity with GIS and other digital tools is a plus. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively. • Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent organizational abilities. • A collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to teamwork, stakeholder coordination, and problem-solving. • A confident, positive, and professional demeanor, with the ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities and project challenges. • Experience with City of Toronto Specifications and standards for Wet Utilities is an asset.
