Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Infrastructure, the Electrical Specialist, Corporate Infrastructure is responsible for coordinating and leading infrastructure, electrical, and facilities-related projects from planning through completion. The role serves as a key technical resource supporting capital and infrastructure initiatives, with a strong focus on electrical systems, emergency power, sustainability, energy management, and critical infrastructure projects.

Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and project teams, the Electrical Specialist ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and in compliance with applicable legislation, building codes, and procurement requirements. This position plays an important role in supporting the organization’s strategic infrastructure and sustainability goals through effective project leadership, technical expertise, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate infrastructure and electrical projects from inception through project close-out, maintaining overall project schedule, budget timelines, and deliverables are achieved

  • Act as the technical lead and subject matter expert for electrical systems, emergency power systems, utilities, and critical infrastructure projects

  • Collaborate with contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support project planning, execution, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements

  • Support energy management, sustainability initiatives, and infrastructure improvement strategies aligned with organizational priorities and long-term planning

  • Develop and manage project documentation including schedules, technical specifications, RFPs, reporting, and risk mitigation plans

  • Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with OHSA requirements, IPAC protocols, and applicable building and construction standards

  • Meet with stakeholders and end users to evaluate operational needs, identify challenges, and provide recommendations for infrastructure, electrical, and facilities-related solutions

  • Acts as liaison for consulting teams and verify work performed by the architects, engineers, the facilities and maintenance department and other specialty consultants

  • Research, identify, and support applications for available environmental, energy, and sustainability-related funding opportunities and incentives

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
  • Minimum four (4) years of progressive experience in electrical systems, infrastructure, construction, or capital project management required
  • Valid 309A or 422A Electrical Certification required; Master Electrician designation considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure, electrical, or construction projects from planning through completion
  • Experience working with emergency power systems, utilities, or critical infrastructure projects
  • Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, and multiple project stakeholders within complex environments
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, contract management, procurement practices, and applicable building codes
  • Professional designation related to engineering or project management (e.g., Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), PMP certification) considered a strong asset
