We're looking for a strategic and collaborative Design Strategist, Team Lead who will serve as the teams art director. You'll provide creative vision, champion our brand standards, and inspire exceptional design across every project. You'll balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, confidently presenting ideas to stakeholders while fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This position is based at our Global Headquarters in Acton, Ontario, with the option to work in a hybrid environment. Regular onsite presence is required to collaborate with team members, support training, and oversee creative work.

More about the role:

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Design Strategist, Team Lead is responsible for leading Superior Glove's graphic design function by providing creative direction, visual brand stewardship, and leadership for the design team. This role oversees the development and execution of visual assets across print, digital, video, motion graphics, social media, web, events, and product marketing to deliver a consistent and engaging brand experience. Working closely with the Marketing Manager and cross-functional teams, you'll drive creative excellence while contributing hands-on design expertise when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead creative direction across all marketing channels, including print, digital, web, social media, video, motion graphics, events, and product marketing.
  • Champion and evolve Superior Glove's visual identity, brand standards, and design systems.
  • Develop creative concepts and visual strategies for campaigns, product launches, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver effective creative solutions.
  • Review, approve, and provide constructive feedback on creative work produced by internal designers and external partners.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the graphic design team through regular performance conversations and career development planning.
  • Manage creative workflows, establish priorities, and ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing creative culture.
  • Manage relationships with external creative vendors, freelancers, photographers, illustrators, and agencies.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and represent the graphic design function across the organization.
  • Contribute hands-on design work when specialized expertise is required or project demands exceed team capacity.
  • Ensure all final creative assets meet brand, quality, and production standards.

Qualifications:

  • Postsecondary education in Graphic Design or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience providing art direction, creative leadership, or leading visual brand initiatives.
  • Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and related applications).
  • Strong knowledge of branding, typography, visual communication, digital design, and print production.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and project management platforms such as Asana or Monday.com.
  • Proven ability to lead creative projects from concept through execution while managing multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for mentoring creative professionals and building high-performing teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to balance strategic thinking with execution.
  • Experience managing remote teams is considered an asset.
