Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Project / Chemical Engineer in the engineering, procurement, and construction management industry in Belleville, Ontario.
We are seeking an experienced Project/Chemical Engineer to lead capital projects and drive process improvement initiatives across customer sites. The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in chemical engineering, process optimization, and system design, with a demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept through implementation. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing manufacturing processes that enhance operational efficiency, product quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness while supporting overall business objectives.
Responsibilities: Lead the design, optimization, and implementation of chemical processes and manufacturing systems to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance Manage capital projects from scope development through construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational handover, while providing ongoing technical support and troubleshooting Drive continuous improvement initiatives through process optimization, root cause analysis, waste reduction, downtime minimization, and implementation of corrective actions Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop engineering documentation, ensure regulatory compliance, and support process validation and qualification activities Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers and technicians while staying current with industry best practices and emerging technologies
Successful candidates will have: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical / Industrial/ Manufacturing Engineering with an emphasis in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or consumer goods sectors Must hold a valid Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario and/or other Provinces. 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment with proven experience in process design, optimization, and troubleshooting in a high-volume production setting Drive continuous improvement projects focused on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and yield enhancement Conduct capacity analysis, process simulations, and feasibility studies for new or modified production lines Experience with process modeling, simulation tools, and statistical analysis (e.g., FEA, CFD, Minitab, JMP) is an asset Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and process simulation tools
