About the role

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is Canada’s national standards body and leading accreditation organization. Established in 1970 as a federal Crown corporation, SCC opens a world of possibilities through standardization. The SCC works with a vast network of partners across Canada and globally, representing Canada’s interests on the international stage as a member of the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission. As Canada’s leading accreditation organization, SCC establishes market confidence by ensuring that conformity assessment bodies meet the highest standards. Everything they do is aimed at shaping a better future for Canada and ensuring that standardization delivers the greatest benefit for all.

Within this evolving context, SCC is seeking a Director, Transformation (Director) to provide strategic leadership for the organization’s enterprise-wide transformation agenda. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director will lead the end-to-end delivery of critical transformation initiatives approved by the Senior Management Committee, including the Business Model Review, the International Standardization Roadmap, and Service Delivery Modernization. The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping SCC’s future state by driving organization-wide alignment, strengthening governance and decision-making discipline, and ensuring cohesive execution across branches. Working closely with the Executive Management Committee, Senior Management Committee, and branch leadership teams, the Director will establish and implement frameworks, roadmaps, and delivery approaches that enable successful transformation outcomes while supporting accountability at all levels of the organization.

As a trusted advisor to the CEO, the Director will provide informed counsel on transformation opportunities, organizational readiness, implementation risks, and strategic priorities. The role will lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives that advance SCC’s strategic direction, foster organizational agility, and support long-term sustainability and growth. The Director will also champion innovation and collaboration across SCC, helping teams navigate change and identifying opportunities to strengthen organizational effectiveness, operational excellence, and revenue diversification. The Director will inspire and guide cross-functional teams, build broad-based support for change initiatives, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and forward-thinking leadership. This role also includes direct leadership responsibility for the Manager, Strategic Initiatives and Innovation.

As the ideal candidate, you are a strategic and highly respected leader with significant experience leading complex transformation initiatives within government, Crown corporations, regulatory environments, or similarly complex organizations. You bring deep expertise in organizational transformation, strategic planning, change management, and enterprise project delivery. You possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with strong political acuity and business judgment. You have demonstrated success advising senior executives, influencing enterprise-level decisions, and leading cross-functional teams through periods of significant change. You are skilled at building collaborative relationships, aligning stakeholders around shared objectives, and translating strategic vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. You are recognized for your ability to navigate ambiguity, foster innovation, and lead with integrity, inclusion, and accountability.

The successful candidate will possess a university degree in business management, engineering, accounting, or a related field, complemented by senior leadership experience; a graduate degree is considered an asset. Knowledge of standards and standardization, as well as experience within the Canadian public policy environment, will be highly valued. Bilingualism (English and French) is required.
