Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled, visionary Executive Showrunner & Lead Podcast Editor to oversee the production, creative direction, and technical execution of an upcoming 8–12 episode conversational podcast series.
This role requires a rare blend of high-level creative leadership and precise technical execution. As the Showrunner, you will collaborate closely with executive leadership to shape the series' identity, manage the production timeline, and ensure storytelling excellence. As the Lead Editor, you will hold ultimate responsibility for episode design, pacing, and overall acoustic polish.
With multiple projects currently in our development pipeline, this initial contract offers significant potential to evolve into a long-term, multi-series partnership for the right professional.
Key Responsibilities
- Creative Direction & Showrunning • Story Architecture: Partner with the creator to conceptualize, structure, and refine the narrative arc of the 8–12 episode series (episodes will average approximately 30–45 minutes of finished audio). • Project Management: Develop and maintain a rigorous production schedule, ensuring all episodes move seamlessly from pre-production through final master. • Content Integrity: Review scripts, outlines, and raw recordings to ensure high-impact pacing, emotional resonance, and consistent thematic alignment.
- Audio Engineering & Editing • Dialogue Editing: Execute high-level dialogue cleaning, removing distracting artifacts, filler words, and pacing gaps while maintaining natural conversational flow. • Sound Design & Scoring: Select, license, and implement music and sound effects that elevate the production value and reinforce the tone of the series. • Mixing & Mastering: Deliver broadcast-ready, industry-standard audio tracks optimized for all major podcast platforms, ensuring impeccable loudness compliance (LUFS), clarity, and balance.
Required Experience & Qualifications • Proven Track Record: A minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in podcast production, audio engineering, or showrunning, with a portfolio that demonstrates narrative sophistication and technical excellence. • Advanced Technical Skill: Mastery of industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as DaVinci Resolve/Fairlight, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, or Logic Pro. • Creative Instincts: A sophisticated understanding of pacing, story structure, and how audio manipulation can enhance listener engagement. • Professional Communication: Exceptional collaborative skills, with the ability to translate high-level creative feedback into actionable production changes. • Reliability & Autonomy: Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to self-manage and meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
