Manager, Knowledge Hub and Research
The Manager, Knowledge Hub and Research, reporting to the Director, Granting and Research Programs, is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the grant to the Rainbow Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (REKH), hosted by the University of Alberta. This work supports improved data on 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurship and business ownership in Canada, while helping address gaps in available research, supplier diversity insights, and regional and sectoral understanding of 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurial communities.
The role oversees the research granting lifecycle, including proposal review, contracting, monitoring, stewardship, milestone tracking, deliverable confirmation, and project closure. The Manager also supports CQCC-led research activities aligned with organizational needs and priorities.
The Role’s Purpose Is To
Administer grant application and management processes; Support grant implementation, evaluation, due diligence, and relationship management; Monitor grant recipients and projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, budgets, deliverables, and reporting requirements; Support recipients so funding achieves intended project and organizational outcomes; and Engage in research identified as useful to CQCC, using appropriate methodologies and tools in coordination with the Knowledge Hub.
Core Accountabilities
Grants Coordination and Administration
Administer REKH grant management processes in compliance with program and fiscal requirements; Coordinate intake and development of the REKH two-year research plan; Conduct due diligence on project partners and funding recipients; Monitor legal, financial, program, record-keeping, reporting, and deliverable compliance; Review project activities, milestones, and deliverables to ensure alignment with approved plans and value for the grant investment; Respond to inquiries received by CQCC about REKH and related research activities; and Collect data and information to support regular reports, analysis, audits, and funder requirements.
Research Management
Work with REKH project managers and research directors to support research aligned with CQCC’s needs and the 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurship landscape in Canada; Develop research questions and methodologies, in consultation with CQCC leadership, that advance understanding of program efficacy, supplier diversity, member experience, and engagement; Execute research activities, gather information, analyze findings, and distill results into clear reports and briefings; and Share research findings with relevant staff and support communications strategies that make insights accessible and useful.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal partners involved in grant management and REKH integration; Maintain open communication with REKH and its partners, ensuring accountabilities are clear and deliverables are completed as proposed; Collaborate with CQCC staff to share REKH activities, research, and findings in ways that strengthen programs and organizational knowledge; and Work with the Senior Director, Research and Grants to support effective implementation of the Knowledge Hub program.
Problem Solving and Ownership
Identify opportunities to improve grant management processes, tools, templates, workflows, and documentation; Update instructions, guidelines, forms, tracking documents, and project tools as required; Monitor project timelines, activities, risks, deliverables, and reporting requirements; Problem-solve grant and research scenarios, consulting with the Director as needed; Identify risks and recommend mitigation approaches in accordance with CQCC standards, practices, and procedures; and Support accurate databases, records, and documentation.
Desired Competencies & Experience
Graduate degree, including experience developing and engaging in original research, preferably in business, social sciences, or humanities, or equivalent experience. Experience in grant management, relationship management, program management, community engagement, or a related area; Experience in project management, including the use of project management tools; Experience working within academic research settings or collaborating with researchers and research partners; Experience coordinating or managing research projects from proposal development through implementation, reporting, and completion; Knowledge of research plans, monitoring processes, deliverables, milestones, timelines, and reporting requirements; Critical thinking and analysis skills, including evaluation, reporting, financial, and budget analysis; Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines under timeline constraints; Strong understanding of 2SLGBTQI+ issues in Canada, with experience working with 2SLGBTQI+ communities considered a strong asset; Experience applying principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within relationship management and program delivery; Experience developing and maintaining administrative processes, tracking documents, workflows, databases, and records; Experience working in a multiple-stakeholder environment; Previous not-for-profit experience is an asset; and Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
Terms
This is a remote/hybrid, full-time position based in Canada. Regular travel to events, meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagements across Canada is required. Candidates based in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Montréal, Quebec City, or other major Canadian centres are encouraged to apply, provided they can meet regular national travel expectations and attend in-person meetings, events, and organizational commitments as required.
Compensation
Salary will be based on skills and experience, within the annual earnings range of $70,000 – $85,000. Additional benefits round out the compensation package, including group benefit plan coverage, annual vacation, and a generous public holiday schedule including paid time off between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
