Senior Manager, Information Services

Reporting to the Associate Director of Education, Corporate Services, the Senior Manager, Information Services leads the strategic and operational delivery of enterprise information systems, directed by the Superintendent of Student Achievement and Well-Being to enable Board priorities and the effective delivery of programs and services.
The preferred candidate will demonstrate strengths in the following areas:
- Strategic leadership and critical thinking to plan, deliver, and sustain enterprise-wide information technology services
- Strong managerial, organizational, communication, and facilitation skills in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
- Demonstrated technical and analytical expertise across enterprise hardware, software, networks, mobile, and cloud technologies
- Experience leading large-scale IT initiatives using quality assurance frameworks and best-practice methodologies
- Effective leadership during crisis and incident situations, including system interruptions
- Financial and operational acumen, including budget oversight, risk management, and resource optimization
- Proven vendor management expertise, including contract administration, negotiations, and solution evaluation
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills that support accountability, performance, and professional growth
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct the design, development, deployment, maintenance, and support of enterprise systems, modern device management, and Helpdesk services
- Provide strategic oversight and execution of Board-wide IT projects in collaboration with departmental teams and project analysts
- Oversee student information systems, including system support, maintenance, and Ministry reporting requirements (e.g., ONSIS)
- Lead database administration, website administration, and enterprise application management
- Develop and implement IT strategies, standards, benchmarks, and best-practice frameworks aligned with Board priorities
- Lead incident and system interruption response, including after-hours support as required during critical system incidents that affect information systems.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to senior administration, departments, schools, and academic staff
- Support the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our schools and departments
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with other school boards, professional associations, vendors, and the Ministry of Education
- Research academic and business technology needs and contribute to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Oversee a portion of the Board's multi-million-dollar operational IT budget, ensuring fiscal accountability and efficiency
- Approve operational expenditures and monitor assigned cost centres
- Administer and manage technology contracts, renewals, and vendor relationships to optimize service delivery, cost, and risk
- Provide leadership for staffing, performance management, recruitment, coaching, and professional development
- Ensure compliance with Board policies, administrative procedures, and safe work practices
Skills, Qualifications and Education****al Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or three-year college diploma in Computer Science/Technology, Business Administration, or a combination of education and experience deemed acceptable by the Board
- IT, vendor-specific, or management certifications preferred
- Experience within Ontario's Public Education Sector is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, budget administration in a large information technology organization.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated technical and analytical background in enterprise systems, networks, mobile, and cloud technologies
- Ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners
Salary range**:**$140,147 - $164,821 and includes a competitive benefits plan through a provincial benefits trust plan (extended health, dental, life insurance, AD&D), and enrolment in the OMERS pension plan. This is a 12-month full-time position (35 hours per week) and is part of the Board's union-exempt Administrative Management Group.
