The Opportunity
Ground Force Property Services is seeking a highly specialized Construction Manager to lead the financial, administrative, and operational oversight of our expanding portfolio. This is a strategic leadership role that goes beyond traditional site management. Given the complexity and scale of our commercial and multi-phase residential projects, we require a candidate who combines deep financial management expertise with hands-on project management and construction administration experience.
The successful candidate will serve as the senior authority on project financial health, supply chain coordination, manpower management and regulatory compliance — ensuring every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
The Construction Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the construction of large-scale outdoor construction and hardscaping projects from inception through to completion and turnover.
- Lead all financial planning, reporting, and variance analysis for the construction division, including preparation of financial statements, balance sheet reviews, and income statements.
- Oversee comprehensive cash flow management, project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control across multiple simultaneous construction contracts.
- Direct supply chain logistics for construction materials, equipment procurement, and subcontractor management, ensuring cost-effective sourcing and timely delivery.
- Manage and supervise site supervisors, forepersons, and field crews; coordinate manpower allocation and scheduling across multiple project sites.
- Implement and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for project performance, financial health, and team productivity.
- Lead high-level negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable Nova Scotia and Canadian building codes, occupational health and safety regulations, and corporate legal requirements.
- Prepare and present detailed project status reports to senior leadership, including schedule updates, cost reports, risk assessments, and change management documentation.
- Manage and negotiate contracts with international suppliers and subcontractors.
- Utilize SAP ERP systems for project cost tracking, financial reporting, and resource management.
- Support permit applications, inspection processes, and project close-out documentation.
Mandatory Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications· Experience managing teams of 10 or more employees.
- Extensive work experience in project management and finance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, variance analysis, forecasting) and full Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Proven experience in corporate tax strategy, tax preparation, income tax, and tax accounting for large-scale contracting operations.
- Experience working within the construction or energy sector in a senior administrative or financial capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferably with a focus in finance or project management.
- Advanced, hands-on proficiency in SAP ERP for financial management and reporting.
