Track Supervisors with Cando are responsible for the supervision of the employees on site, budgeting and business planning, overseeing the site purchasing and payroll, meeting Safety requirements, liaising with the customers and contractors, and developing new business.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Guides the operations of the job site ensuring the necessary people, equipment, and other resources are available to effectively provide our service
  • Supports all daily job briefings, reviews hazard analysis, and acts as the champion of all safety initiatives
  • Communicating with customers and developing more potential business opportunities
  • Liaising with suppliers and contractors
  • Ensures the production of the job site is aligned with the project plans and carries out the plans as directed by the division manager
  • Manages team, promotes employee training, and resolves conflict on the job site
  • Builds and maintains positive and healthy relationships and teams within the division
  • Promotes and guides others to understand delivery of effective services and achievement of objectives.
  • Educates others and helps with the implementation of policies and practices in the division
  • Manages job site human resources including participating in coaching and leading activities, monitors payroll and WCB functions
  • Works with Division Manager and Project Foreman on a daily basis identifying potential hurdles, targeting inconsistencies
  • Responsible to review daily job briefing reports, audit purchases for supplies and timesheets, WCB forms, productivity reports, and equipment logs
  • Provides continuous status reports to Division Manager and Project Forman.
  • Responsible for overseeing the that safety precautions and measures are met in conjunction with Cando’s standards and policies
  • Oversees purchasing and reporting for the job centers.
  • Promotes the general maintenance on equipment is maintained and audits daily log books are accurately completed

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Demonstrates initiative to independently plan, organize, and prioritize workload; meet project plans in a constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrates leadership including establishing focus, providing motivational support, fostering teamwork, and empowering others
  • Possesses a working understanding of legislation, regulations, and best practices relevant to area of expertise
  • Ability to establish rapport with people and influence opinions and attitudes
  • Skilled Skilled in the use of computer equipment and operating systems including word processing, and spreadsheet and database software
  • Ability to hold and maintain clear drug & alcohol testing; hold and maintain a valid driver’s license, CROR, TIGS, eRailsafe, First Aid and CPR.
  • Ability to travel throughout Western Canada for extended periods of time (generally 10 days on, 4 days off).

Education & Experience

  • General knowledge of track construction principles and operational and production capabilities of various equipment
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Basic mathematics skills and familiarity with reading blue prints and schematics
