Environmental Coordinator, Remediation and Reclamation

Clear Environmental Solutions ("Clear”) is a Calgary-based environmental consulting firm specializing in waste, water, and environmental liability management across Western Canada. Operating since 2004, of CES Energy Solutions since 2008, Clear is proud to offer multiple environmental services which span the full lifecycle of oil and gas and commercial assets.
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
Clear is looking to add an Environmental Coordinator, Remediation and Reclamation to our team. Based out of our Calgary head office, this intermediate- to senior-level position shall function as the project coordinator for client reclamation and remediation programs across Western Canada.
Reporting to the Environmental Technical Manager, responsibilities of the Environmental Coordinator, Remediation and Reclamation will include:
Serve as the primary coordinator for client Remediation and Reclamation projects, managing all phases from initial scoping through to reclamation certificate application. Develop scopes of work, project plans, budgets, and cost estimates for reclamation and remediation programs of varying complexity. Coordinate and schedule field programs including Phase 1, 2, and 3 Environmental Site Assessments ("ESAs") , Detailed Site Assessments ("DSAs"), pre-reclamation assessments, and environmental monitoring. Manage and direct field technicians and sub-contractors; review and QA/QC field data and technical deliverables prior to submission. Prepare and oversee technical reports, work plans, and regulatory submissions to the Alberta Energy Regulator ("AER") and other provincial authorities. Track and manage site progress toward closure, including managing Remedial Action Plans ("RAPs") and regulatory correspondence. Communicate directly with clients and provincial regulators on project status, findings, and obligations. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff members. Professional review and sign-off (not required but would be considered an asset).
Qualification Requirements:
Post-secondary degree or technical diploma in Environmental Science, Soil Science, Land Reclamation, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline. Minimum 5–8 years of experience in environmental consulting, with direct experience in reclamation and remediation in upstream oil and gas operations. Strong working knowledge of Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines; working knowledge of British Columbia and Saskatchewan criteria is an asset. Proven experience with Phase 1, 2, and 3 ESAs, DSAs, pre-reclamation assessments, reclamation planning, and reclamation certificate applications. Familiarity with AER Manual 021, provincial remediation regulations, and relevant EPEA requirements. Strong technical writing skills and experience preparing and submitting regulatory reports. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); and GIS platforms. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently. Willingness to travel to the field as required (position is primarily office-based; training or auditing field staff may be required). Experience developing Tier 2 guideline adjustments and/or Subsoil Salinity Tool ("SST") modelling is considered a significant asset. Professional designation (or eligibility for designation) with APEGA, AIA, ASPB, or equivalent provincial organization in Alberta, BC, or Saskatchewan is considered a strong asset. Legally eligible to work in Canada.
