Are you a strategic, collaborative, and community‑focused professional with expertise in land management and a passion for supporting Indigenous land stewardship? Squamish Nation is seeking a Manager, Lands to join the Wa ns7eyx̱ ta temíxw (Community Lands) team.

This role is central to the stewardship, planning, and administration of Squamish Nation lands. From managing Additions to Reserve to overseeing land use, environmental management, and policy development, this position directly supports community growth, sustainability, and access to land-based resources for current and future generations.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the planning, organization, and oversight of Squamish Nation reserve lands, land use, and resource management.
  • Develop and administer policies, bylaws, and practices related to land administration, environmental management, and land development.
  • Oversee Additions to Reserve (ATR) applications and support strategic land expansion initiatives.
  • Manage land allocation processes, including the housing list, lot assignments, and transfers in alignment with Nation policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to Members on land matters, including resolving inquiries and disputes.
  • Develop and maintain land-related agreements such as leases, right of ways, permits, and land interest documents.
  • Oversee environmental planning and implementation, including the Environmental Management Plan.
  • Develop and monitor departmental budgets and financial plans related to lands.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, and reporting systems to support effective land administration.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, leadership, and external partners.
  • Stay informed on land management legislation, policies, and emerging issues impacting First Nations.
  • Contribute to team goals and perform additional duties to support departmental priorities.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree or diploma in Natural Resource Management, Land Management, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of directly related experience in land management, land use planning, property management, or conservation.
  • Strong knowledge of First Nations land management issues, policies, and legislation.
  • Experience with land development, Additions to Reserve, and/or on-reserve property management.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage Members and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, budgets, and projects effectively.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, databases, Google Earth Pro).
  • Strong conflict resolution and dispute mitigation skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and cultural awareness.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Willingness to complete Professional Land Management Certification (Level I & II).

Salary: $80,026 - $120,040

Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
