Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid — 4 days on-site, 1 day work from home

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) facilitates release processes, coordination, and execution of high-complexity Credit Card initiatives. The RTE works with various stakeholders across the enterprise to coordinate delivery of features, create the end-to-end delivery roadmap, and deliver on commitments. This role escalates impediments, manages risk, helps ensure value delivery, and drives relentless improvement.

As a subject matter expert, the Release Train Engineer leads, coordinates, and delivers — and may also be accountable for overseeing, coaching, and training a small group of professionals assigned to Agile teams. The RTE co-ordinates features to be deployed on the Agile Release Train by taking into consideration dependencies, order, and architecture. This is a high-visibility, strategic, multi-million-dollar revenue-driving position supporting a new credit card launch and the conversion of an existing portfolio to a new technical stack within a collaborative team of 35 people.


Key Responsibilities Manage and optimize the flow of value through ARTs using various tools such as Kanban and other information radiators Establish and communicate the Program Increments (PIs) apart from your ART and facilitate PI Readiness, System Demos, PI Planning, and Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings Co-ordinate the features to be deployed on the Agile Release Train by taking into consideration dependencies, order, and architecture Escalate impediments, manage risk, help ensure value delivery, and help drive relentless improvement Partner with stakeholders across finance, risk, compliance/legal teams, and external vendors (e.g., Symcor, G&D) Act as an orchestra to the team — stepping up to play an instrument when needed — on conversion of existing customer data and new product launch Touch base across all book of record, mid-tier, and channels (ATM, branches, mobile) for customer account setup, statement management, and reporting Oversee, coach, and train a small group of professionals assigned to Agile teams as required


Required Skills 10 years of experience delivering high-complexity Credit Card features in Agile, cross-functional teams 5 years of direct experience with data conversions, credit card preferred 5 years presenting status, risks, issues, mitigations, and feature financials to senior leadership Strong financial management skills Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Strong risk mitigation and management Ability to tell a story succinctly to both business and technical audiences at different levels of stakeholders Leading through ambiguity, creative problem solving, and critical thinking Core technical skills: credit card delivery, migration (mainframe, Azure, SQL, DB2), vendor systems including GMD / Simcorp / TSYS / FIS


Preferred Skills Certified SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMP, or Agile certifications Prior experience with banking, financial institutions, or organizations that offer credit cards


Education Requirements Post-secondary education is an asset; work experience is more important PMP or Agile certifications are an asset


Required Experience 10 years of overall experience 10 years delivering high-complexity Credit Card features in Agile, in cross-functional teams 5 years with direct experience in data conversions, credit card preferred 5 years presenting status, risks, issues, mitigations, and feature financials to senior leadership Deep data conversion/migration background, ideally including mainframe, Azure, SQL, and DB2
