SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director, Underwriting and Reciprocal Services, the Senior Analyst – Underwriting Analytics & Strategy is responsible for assisting HIROC in achieving its goal of maintaining cost-effective, sustainable, responsive insurance coverage. As a subject-matter expert, the Senior Analyst – Underwriting Analytics & Strategy will support and manage projects for developing new and enhance existing pricing models using a variety of statistical analyses including, predictive modeling.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Responsibilities • Execute and complete assigned strategic initiatives and projects. • Design rate review approaches using internal and external data to enhance pricing sophistication. • Develop KPIs, monitor plans, and report to address emerging business challenges and measure success. • Present recommendations for product and pricing changes or new product development. • Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory developments to identify risks and opportunities.

Technical Responsibilities • Build dashboards and data pipelines using tools such as Power BI, SQL, and advanced Excel. • Implement data pipelines and reporting systems to track trends and generate actionable insights. • Apply advanced analytics, historical data, and scenario planning to support underwriting decisions. Collaboration & Communication • Work closely with Actuarial Consultants and teams in Underwriting, Brokerage, and PEIS on cross-functional projects. • Share analytical findings and drive implementation within established timelines. • Serve as a subject matter expert on team projects when required. Additional Duties • Contribute to initiatives across the Insurance Services Team. • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Core Competencies • In-depth knowledge of insurance products and industry practices. • Proven experience developing and maintaining pricing models and rating algorithms. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make logical, timely decisions. • Expertise in database principles, data profiling, statistics, and data modeling, applying these in complex scenarios. Technical Skills • Advanced proficiency in reporting and data visualization tools (Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint). • Ability to design dashboards and data pipelines to support underwriting strategies. • Proficiency in statistical tools and programming languages (e.g., SAS, Python) for model development and interpretation. Professional Skills • Excellent written and verbal communication, including strong presentation abilities. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate in work. • Adaptable to fast-paced environments and shifting priorities. • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently. • Demonstrates initiative and a commitment to continuous learning and personal development. • Creative thinker focused on performance improvement and advancing healthcare safety

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Actuarial, Finance or Economics and 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Insurance industry designations such as CIP/FCIP, CRM, RPLU are a Plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS: • Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 8:30AM – 4:30PM, some flexible hours may be required to meet Subscriber needs • Normal working conditions in an office setting. Working at computer for most of the day. • May be required to attend-after-hours functions/meetings during off hours • Travel as required • HIROC is committed to a hybrid work environment, which includes 2 days per week in office, with departments meeting in person at least two times per month, as per HIROC’s Hybrid Work Policy. HIROC’s hybrid model provides opportunities for team building, education, leadership development and cross departmental relationship building. SALARY RANGE: $105,000 - $130,000

The salary range offered for this position will be determined by a variety of factors including the candidate’s skills, competencies, qualifications and relevant experience, in accordance with HIROC’s Compensation Policy.
