Maternity Leave Contract with Potential for Full-Time Opportunity

David Small Designs is looking for a talented and motivated Interior Designer to join our team in a hybrid role based in Oakville, Ontario. This position is a maternity leave contract opportunity with the potential to transition into a full-time permanent role for the right candidate.

We are seeking someone with 3–5 years of professional interior design experience (excluding co-op placements), who is passionate about residential design, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in client meetings and ongoing client communication
• Assist with concept development and presentation preparation
• Source and select finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and materials
• Prepare drawings, detailing packages, and project coordination documents
• Conduct product research and showroom visits
• Attend shopping excursions and site visits with clients
• Manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
• Collaborate closely with the design team throughout all project phases

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of interior design experience (excluding co-op placements)
• Strong knowledge of products, materials, finishes, and fixtures
• Experience in residential interior design
• Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills

Software Requirements

• AutoCAD
• SketchUp
• Adobe Creative Suite (preferred)

This is a hybrid position offering flexibility, exposure to high-end residential projects, and the opportunity to grow within an established and creative design studio.
