The role

The Senior Manager, IT Business Solutions & Innovation Delivery at IPH for the Canadian (CA) region is a key leadership role focused on aligning technology strategy with business priorities across the Canadian region. This role is accountable for building strong executive partnerships, shaping the regional technology portfolio, and driving business transformation through effective project delivery and emerging capabilities such as AI and automation.

The Senior Manager acts as a strategic advisor to Firm leadership, ensuring that technology investments deliver measurable business value. This includes identifying opportunities for innovation, optimizing processes, and leading a portfolio of initiatives that enhance productivity, client service, and competitive advantage.

The role leads a multidisciplinary team of Business Analysts, Project Managers and AI leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and business-centric delivery. This role also fosters collaboration and best practice sharing with cross-functional international teams in Asia & Australia and ensuring smooth and successful outcomes for key projects and solutions.

This role can be based in Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnership, Strategic Alignment & Transformation

Serve as the primary IT business partner to Firm Managing Directors and senior stakeholders across the region, building trusted relationships to understand business priorities, challenges, and growth opportunities. Act as a strategic advisor on business transformation, digital innovation, and AI adoption, ensuring technology initiatives are driven by clear business outcomes. Translate business strategy into a prioritized regional technology and transformation roadmap aligned with firm objectives. Lead initiatives to modernize and optimize business processes, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and value realization. Identify cross-firm synergies and standardization opportunities to improve consistency and operational scale. Ensure business requirements are clearly defined, outcomes-focused, and aligned through regular executive engagement, reporting, and governance.

AI & Innovation Leadership

Champion the identification, evaluation, and adoption of AI and automation opportunities across the region. Partner with business leaders to embed AI-driven insights, efficiency gains, and innovation into core processes. Promote a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement leveraging emerging technologies. Collaborate with global teams to align on AI strategy, standards, and reuse of capabilities.

Portfolio, Program & Change Leadership

Own and govern the regional portfolio of business and technology initiatives, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities, effective prioritization, and value realization. Establish and maintain portfolio management disciplines, including resource planning, benefits tracking, and investment governance. Lead the successful delivery of complex, cross-functional programs and projects across all firms in the region. Drive strong project and program governance, including executive reporting, steering committees, and proactive risk management. Lead business and technology transformation initiatives end-to-end, ensuring structured change management, stakeholder adoption, and a smooth transition from delivery to operational value.

Leadership & Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. Foster strong business acumen, stakeholder engagement skills, and delivery excellence within the team. Define and track performance metrics aligned to business outcomes and portfolio success.

Vendor & Financial Management

Oversee key vendor relationships with a focus on value delivery, innovation, and strategic alignment. Oversee RFP processes and contract negotiations for strategic solutions. Manage budgets associated with the regional portfolio, ensuring effective allocation of resources and ROI.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

Ensure adherence to IT governance frameworks, cybersecurity policies, and regulatory requirements. Support audit activities and maintain appropriate oversight of risks across the portfolio.

Requirements And Skills

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience. Excellent communications skills in both French and English. 7+ years of experience in a leadership capacity managing teams and portfolios 10+ years of experience in a technology-related field, with a strong focus on business engagement. Proven experience in portfolio management, large-scale program delivery, and business transformation. Experience driving AI, automation, or digital innovation initiatives is highly desirable. Certifications in Project/Portfolio Management, Agile, or Change Management are an asset. Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders. Proven capability in portfolio management, prioritization, and value-driven delivery. Strong understanding of business transformation and process optimization. Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and evaluating investment value. Service orientated mindset encouraging team members to provide a high quality, timely service to the company and its firms and increase team morale. Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team-building capabilities. Relevant business experience within the legal industry sector with specific knowledge of IP software solutions would be considered a strong asset.
