Job Description

The Project Coordinator is responsible, in conjunction with the project manager and project team, to develop and execute strategies for new and existing operations throughout the company. The Coordinator will be involved in all aspects and phases of the project life cycle including but not limited to initial scoping, proposals, planning, execution, training, ongoing excellence and performance.

General Responsibilities

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate and oversee initial planning, design, preparation, execution, and closeout phases of projects under the Project Management Team
  • Review and comment on existing processes and operations
  • Provide opinion and recommendation with regards to efficiency opportunities and improvements throughout the project life cycle
  • Take a lead role in managing subcontractors including vetting credentials, verifying company contractor requirements (ex. Insurance, WCB/WSIB, safety programs), and maintaining all documentation
  • Ensure regulatory compliance including monitoring and maintaining all related HSSE policies; confirm all QA/QC requirements are met
  • Create, track, and maintain financial records, reports, and processes as required
  • Create and implement work systems and procedures as necessary for operational handover and provide adequate training to all team members
  • Maintain timelines, budgets, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Implement and execute project management best practices and disciplines
  • Act as the Cando site representative as situations require; communicate with all stakeholders as required

Support & Administration

  • Support the execution or implementation of new and existing business working with Project Management team
  • Must have the ability to travel away from home for extended periods to support new and existing business
  • Track all customer interactions and knowledge base
  • Build and maintain positive and respectful working relationships with team members

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Ability to independently plan, organize, and prioritize workload leading to successful implementation of projects in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities including communication, motivational support, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and Cando’s service delivery practices
  • Advanced computer skills with ability to learn, implement, and share new processes and technologies
  • Technical knowledge of transload and terminal equipment, metering and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge with railway operations, yard management, Class 1 railways and related software
  • Awareness of lean management principals and concepts
  • Ability to hold and maintain all required certifications required to execute responsibilities
  • Ability to travel to various locations throughout the Canada and the US

Education & Experience

  • Experience working in a railway or related industrial environment
  • Experience working with hydrocarbon processes, regulations and equipment
  • Experience in railcar handling, TDG and railcar anatomy
  • Diploma in Business or Project Management is preferred
