About the role
The J. Hansen HVAC Group Inc. is in search of a HVAC Supervisor who will work closely with management, field technicians, and customers to ensure the successful delivery of commercial and industrial mechanical projects.
The successful applicant will be a self-motivated leader with strong technical expertise and excellent organizational and communication skills. The ideal candidate must be customer-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects while supporting and mentoring field staff. With their leadership abilities and technical knowledge, they will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency and strengthening our reputation for quality workmanship and service excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, mentor, and support HVAC and mechanical technicians and apprentices
- Schedule and coordinate daily commercial and industrial mechanical work
- Monitor productivity, workmanship quality, and job performance
- Provide technical guidance and on-site troubleshooting support
- Assist in recruiting, training, and performance evaluations
Project & Operational Oversight
- Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical systems
- Review project specifications, mechanical drawings, and work orders
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades
- Conduct job site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all work complies with applicable mechanical codes, regulations, and company standards
- Enforce company safety policies and promote a strong safety culture
- Conduct safety meetings and job site hazard assessments
- Maintain required documentation, permits, and inspection records
Customer & Administrative Responsibilities
- Communicate with customers regarding project progress and technical matters
- Assist with estimating, material take-offs, and project planning as required
- Coordinate equipment, materials, and subcontractor scheduling
- Complete required reports, time sheets, and project documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service delivery
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid HVAC/Refrigeration or Mechanical License (Journeyperson or equivalent as required)
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial and/or industrial HVAC/mechanical systems
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, building codes, and safety regulations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software is an asset
Education & Certifications
- Licensed Journeyperson HVAC Technician or equivalent Mechanical Certification
- WHMIS and applicable safety certifications
- Valid driver’s license
