About Grand River Hospital (GRH)

· Patients at GRH benefit from the care of 3,400 staff members, 600 professional staff and 1,000 volunteers

· GRH provides a comprehensive range of care to patients across two main campuses, six partner locations for cancer and kidney care and three satellite treatment centres

· GRH has 600 beds and an operating budget of $350 million, GRH provides excellent  patient-centered care to more than 700,000 residents of Waterloo, Guelph  and         Wellington Region

· GRH is a key provider of cancer and renal (kidney) services; care for the most seriously-ill and injured adults; services for mothers, newborns and children; emergency care; mental health and addictions; and care for older adults including rehabilitation

· GRH has a rapidly growing role in teaching and research. GRH is affiliated with the DeGroote Medical School of McMaster University and serves as the principal hospital site for the  Waterloo Undergraduate Medical Campus. GRH hosts post graduate       residency training in medical specialties including psychiatry, emergency medicine,     pediatrics, critical care, and internal medicine

· GRH currently has 81 educational affiliation agreements across Canada.  Locally         including Conestoga College, Wilfrid Laurier University, McMaster University and the University of Waterloo in the professional education of nurses, social workers, medical physicists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, kinesiologists, dieticians and many other health related occupation

· GRH hosts more than 300 medical students and residents in clinical placements each year. In addition, more than 600 students in a variety of fields and education levels come to GRH annually for training experience

· GRH has active research relationships with several institutions including Cancer Care Ontario and in 2015 entered into a formal research partnership with the University of  Waterloo
