This role will support the planning of cancer priorities, and take a lead role with results management to monitor, measure, and report on impact to the cancer system and patient care journey. We are looking for a passionate project manager with health sector experience who brings people along in the work and also plans and executes the work in an agile, practical, and coordinated way. The Work Will Require Strong business acumen in health care: understanding the business impacts of decisions, and bringing complex problems and ideas to clear and actionable plans. Applied change management: coming alongside where people and teams are at, inspiring the desire to implement change, and empowering teams to sustain the change efforts. Agile and creative problem-solving: demonstrating a strong track record of delivering and completing priorities across the complex and evolving health sector. Ability to consistently deliver excellence: creating concise, executive-level ready outputs with actionable insights to support decision making from a vast amount of qualitative and quantitative information across multiple portfolios and teams. What You’ll Do Establishes detailed project charter, plans and objectives to outline timelines and project deliverables. Executes project plan according to project methodologies, ensures successful and coordinated completion of project components, consults with members as needed and ensures readiness for project implementation. Tracks project progress according to project plan and identified metrics. Monitors and reports on the status of projects and major barriers encountered. Makes recommendations to Director regarding projects scope and related changes required to facilitate a successful outcome. Implements or contributes to the implementation of effective processes to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle. Participates in the development and monitoring of project budgets within the context of operations demands and environmental and resource constraints and uses best practice methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets. Provides leadership by giving advice or guidance in situations that require interpretation and judgment Qualifications What you bring A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration or relevant health care discipline with a minimum of five (5) year’s recent, related experience in project management and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of members groups. Project Management Professional designation considered an asset Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts. This includes understanding how these factors contribute to current health disparities and barriers to care. Show a clear commitment to identifying, challenging, and eradicating Indigenous-specific racism and all forms of discrimination impacting equity-deserving groups within health care settings. This involves familiarity and understanding Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility recognizing personal biases, institutional barriers, engaging in anti-racism education and training and advocating for systemic change. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within BC Cancer's contexts found in the foundational documents including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study - BC Human Rights Code, BC Anti-racism Act and how they intersect across the health care system. Core Competencies Brings an understanding of the Indigenous specific racism and the broader systemic racism that exists in the colonial health care structure and has demonstrated leadership in breaking down barriers and ensuring an environment of belonging. Embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility into all aspects of work. This means creating an environment where Indigenous patients feel respected, valued, and understood. Foster trust through respectful communication, active listening, and honoring equity-deserving people's perspectives on health and wellness. Commit to ongoing education and training on Indigenous health issues, cultural safety, and DEI principles. Participate in workshops, cultural immersion experiences, and continuous professional development to stay informed and responsive to equity-deserving groups. Provide patient-centred care that respects Indigenous ways of knowing and healing, respects BIPOC experiences and world views ensuring that care plans are culturally relevant and holistic. Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.). You Have Experience or working knowledge of population and public health is key to the success of this role. Excellent communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment including ability to communicate with the physician community. Computer literacy with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management and database applications.
