Position Overview: As a Project Manager at Olsonfab, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all aspects of structural steel construction projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position is ideal for an individual with hands-on structural steel detailing experience who is looking to leverage their technical expertise in a project management capacity, serving as the key liaison between engineering, detailing, fabrication, and field installation teams. Responsibilities include: Review project plans, proposals, specifications, shop drawings, erection drawings, and detailing information to confirm compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, fabrication needs, and field installation requirements. Manage and coordinate structural steel construction projects from planning and design through execution and closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, and stakeholder requirements are met. Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, general contractors, fabricators, detailing teams, and field installation teams to resolve project requirements, design conflicts, RFIs, and fabrication or erection issues. Provide leadership and guidance to construction teams, including shop foremen, quality control, and steel erectors. Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases & elements Monitor project progress, budget, and quality, and make adjustments as necessary. Conduct regular site visits, inspections and attend site meetings as required Source materials, obtain quotes, issue purchase orders, coordinate equipment rentals, deliveries, freight, and manage subcontractor and supplier procurement and contract negotiations. Coordinate equipment rentals, deliveries and freight as required. Manage subcontractors and suppliers, including procurement and negotiation of contracts. Develop, maintain, and track project and shop fabrication schedules, including milestones, progress, budget impacts, and quality requirements. Prepare and present project reports to senior management and clients. Implement and enforce safety and quality control protocols and best practices. Qualifications: Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (an asset but not required). Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel project management, detailing, or a combination of both. Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices. Experience reviewing and coordinating connection designs and engineering requirements. Strong understanding of fabrication sequencing, material requirements, and field installation considerations. Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications. Proven experience managing commercial and industrial construction projects, preferably involving structural steel. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations. Proficiency in project management software and tools. Strong Tekla skills and practical detailing experience. AutoCAD or other relevant detailing software knowledge. Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. What you’ll do

Oversee all aspects of structural steel construction projects from planning through closeout to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. Act as the primary liaison between engineering, detailing, fabrication, and field installation teams.

Requirements

Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel project management or detailing with strong proficiency in Tekla and AutoCAD. A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is considered an asset.
