Job Description: HR Project Partners is recruiting a Senior Project Manager on behalf of our client, BC Works. The successful candidate will lead the planning and delivery of projects from initiation through completion, ensuring business and project objectives are met through effective management of contracts, resources, budgets, change control, and risk mitigation. Projects may include both capital initiatives and closure-related work. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a collaborative, technically strong professional to advance their career within a large-scale industrial utility environment. The successful candidate should have in-depth knowledge and experience of the 5 Pillars of Project Management, as well as an understanding of the Project Management Gated process. Experience working as part of an Owner’s team is an asset. The Senior Project Manager will report to the Manager of Projects Engineering and work a Monday–Friday schedule. Candidates must be local to Kitimat, BC, or willing to relocate. This is a one-year contract position. Essential Job Functions: Implements projects in accordance with the approved scope. Implements an effective stakeholder engagement plan through the life of the project. Monitors, manages and reports all relevant project performance indicators to meet business requirements. Manages relationships with key project stakeholders. Provides technical support to project stakeholders. Collaborates with stakeholders to define, estimate and deliver on requirements. Resolves any project delivery performance issues in a timely manner. Assists with the sourcing of vendors / consultants as required. Identifies and where appropriate implements improvements to project delivery methods. Monitors, manages and reports all relevant project performance indicators to meet business requirements. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or related discipline). Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng) or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is considered a strong asset. Project Management Professional certification (PMP) or equivalent (e.g., PMI‑ACP, Prince2 Practitioner) is preferred. Strong knowledge of the Project Management life cycle, including an understanding of Project Management Gated process. Additional training in contract management, risk management, or construction safety is an advantage. Minimum 8–12 years of progressive project management experience in an industrial, utilities, mining, energy, or heavy manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience delivering capital projects and/or closure projects from initiation through commissioning and close‑out. Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary engineering teams, external consultants, and contractors. Strong track record in budget development, cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting for projects ranging from mid‑scale to large‑scale industrial scope. Experience implementing stakeholder engagement plans, including communication with operations, engineering, leadership, and external partners. Strong awareness of HSE considerations for large construction projects and ensuring the execution of safe work at all times. Hands‑on experience with contract administration, procurement processes, and vendor/consultant management. Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and manage change throughout the project lifecycle. Experience working in remote or industrial site environments, ideally within British Columbia or similar regions, is an asset. Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and strong competency in MS Office Suite.
