Located in Saskatoon, Canada, VIDO is a research organization at the University of Saskatchewan. With more than 160 staff and >$250 million infrastructure, VIDO is a global leader in vaccine research for both human and animal diseases. In its 45-year history, the organization has developed a number of vaccines, immune modulators and adjuvants for both animal and human applications. VIDO offers access to some of the world's most advanced infrastructure including one the largest high containment facilities (CL3Ag) capable of housing large animals including poultry, pigs, cattle and bison. The organization is currently constructing a state-of-the-art level pilot-scale GMP manufacturing facility.

We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager, who will be responsible for managing scientific projects from conception through exececution. Representative duties are as follows:

  • Participating in meetings with prospective clients and advising on study design, pricing, and VIDO processes.
  • Consulting with Senior Management and Principal Investigators to ensure scientific rigor in study conduct and interpretation.
  • Consulting with Senior Management and Principal Investigators to coordinate assignment of VIDO resources required for project completion.
  • Understands budgeting process and contract terms.
  • Contributes to the preparation ethics submissions.
  • Prepares animal services requests.
  • Consulting and coordinating with veterinary and animal care staff to manage project scheduling, animal manipulation, protocols, and approvals.
  • Developing timelines for projects in consultation with VIDO staff and ensuring timelines are met.
  • Managing communication with clients and VIDO staff throughout the project.
  • Drafting reports, including data analysis and preparation of figures.
  • Prepares invoices in conjunction with finance team; ensures timely submission.
  • May be requested to support drafting of applications for funding from external sources.
  • Responsible for reporting back to sponsor on status of project, funding, and timelines.

Education & Experience

  • The incumbent requires an undergraduate degree, preferably a BSc and Project Management Professional certification, or equivalent experience. An advanced degree is an asset.
  • Experience working within and managing teams.
  • Experience with animal models of infection.
  • Experience with molecular biology, immunology, virology and/or vaccine development.
  • Experience in managing client relations.
  • Data and statistical analysis using various software programs such as GraphPad Prism.
  • Ability to work in a face paced environment.
