As a software application designer, you help ensure IT efficiency by analyzing, designing and updating programming algorithms (computer software, web applications, etc.) and IT tool architecture (software, networks, databases, etc.). You ensure consistency with the organization's current and future needs and structure, while also ensuring that new components are compatible with the existing architecture (software applications, products, services, etc.). More specifically, we are looking for a candidate to develop application-based solutions related to the various IT systems used by the Desjardins Shared Services Centre. You must have experience integrating solutions (e.g., Camunda) within applications. Projects are carried out in Agile mode.

You will design detailed architecture, software and testing/implementation strategies for innovative, large-scale projects. You will analyze, develop and recommend functional, organic and technological solutions and priorities. Therefore, in-depth knowledge of the technology and the ability to anticipate innovations as well as optimize work processes will be key skills. You will advise clients and practitioners on integration and coordination matters, so the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a thorough understanding of needs is key. Your initiatives will require extensive knowledge of your line of work.

You will be responsible for strategic projects involving a high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. These will require analysis and a comprehensive understanding of the business line and the organization. Coordination is critical, so you will interact with a large number of stakeholders from a variety of fields.

You will serve as a specialist advisor and play a leadership role for decision-making bodies and your unit.

Main Responsibilities

  • Help clients identify and analyze needs, set priorities, and select and evaluate technology solutions
  • Conduct studies and execute the positioning, feasibility and detailed design phases. Recommend technology
  • Develop and apply conceptual and logical models and carry out design, implementation and integration strategies
  • Ensure cross-sector coordination with decision-making bodies. Provide support and follow up
  • Coordinate the activities needed to ensure the quality, performance, reliability, availability and continuous improvement of technology solutions and systems.

Additional responsibilities

  • Work and collaborate on projects in Agile mode
  • Participate in or contribute to several small- to medium-sized projects in parallel
  • Help redirect or optimize the development, testing or delivery strategy as needed
  • Manage quality and have design deliverables approved
  • Develop service offers for projects to be carried out
  • Prioritize an evolutionary/iterative approach for the implementation of the various aspects of the solution
  • Be able to discuss technological issues and make the right choices with your squad members
  • Participate in projects using several technologies and types of infrastructure (e.g., application development, security, telephone systems, robotic process automation, ticketing, BPMS, cloud computing, REST APIs)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of six years of a relevant experience
  • Experience designing complex web/transactional and central MVS application development solutions
