Adacel Inc. requires the services of a Field Service Representative (FSR), at Nav Portugal's Ocean Control Center in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. The FSR will assist with software design and development and provide technical assistance for Adacel's Aurora Air Traffic Management system. After an internship of 4 to 6 months with the Engineering team in Montreal, the successful applicant will be deployed for a period of two (2) years as a FSR in Santa Maria to provide on-site software development services to NAV Portugal.

Adacel's Aurora system is a highly configurable ATM automation system designed to increase the safety and efficiency of Air Traffic Control operations in the aerodrome, approach, en-route and oceanic areas. Aurora was designed by Air Traffic Controllers and implemented by a team of highly qualified Engineers. Since 2000, Aurora is used by several air navigation service providers around the world.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides software design, development and support for Aurora.
  • Responds to on site emergency calls.
  • On site design, coding and testing of various software solutions with configuration management to maintain synchronization with product evolution.
  • Liaises and coordinates with Adacel's program and engineering staff.
  • Executes other related tasks as required by NAV Portugal within the technical capabilities of the FSR.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of development experience within a LINUX environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of advanced C/C++ programming.
  • Works well within a small team.
  • Works well independently.
  • Has good communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Object-Oriented programming and design patterns.
  • Knowledge of the Air Traffic Control domain.
  • Knowledge of UML and XML languages.
  • Knowledge of component-based software development.
  • Working knowledge of Subversion and the Atlassian tool suite.
