As an application solutions architect, wealth management and life and health insurance, you actively monitor new technologies and system developments for the organization as a whole, with a view to pursuing developments with our business partners. You actively help design solutions to meet the business needs for large-scale projects or programs that leverage architecture and foundation targets and are part of a vast project to upgrade and improve solutions.

You take on, from a Desjardins Group perspective, a leadership and influencer role when interacting with business partners and specialists on solution or business architecture for strategic, complex and innovative initiatives. The nature of the files require extensive and in-depth expertise in several technology and/or business fields, covering aspects pertaining to data, applications and infrastructure.

You make recommendations regarding solution architecture, and produce deliverables pertaining to your field as part of files or projects with a high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. These require analysis and an overall, in-depth understanding of the business and the organization. Coordination is critical. You must interact with a very large number of stakeholders working in different areas of expertise. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential.

You serve as expert advisor and subject matter expert, as well as a resource person and coach for senior management and decision-making bodies.

More specifically, you are responsible for developing our technological application environments, making sure they are consistent and in alignment with enterprise architecture targets and orientations. You establish and produce the development plan for our applications portfolio in order to achieve corporate targets and orientations, and to assist our business partner in developing financial products based on their business strategy, by influencing initiatives impacting your field of activity so that they are consistent with the established development plan. You participate in and influence the prioritization of initiatives to ensure their alignment with your field's development plan. You ensure compliance with the guidelines related to your area of expertise.

General Information on the Position

Main responsibilities

  • Serve as an expert advisor and subject matter expert for projects and mandates specific to your area of expertise and whose scope and impact are significant and may be felt across Desjardins Group. Identify and prioritize projects that combine business and technology and that support business strategies
  • Advise and assist business partners and specialists with positioning, planning, development, performance and follow-up of various strategic mandates under your responsibility. Organize, manage and deliver guidelines, as needed, on specific technical subjects requiring the consensus of multiple stakeholders
  • Develop and update policies, standards, architecture targets or technology solutions, taking into account aspects pertaining to data, applications and infrastructures to support your unit's strategic projects and initiatives
  • Identify and analyze problems. Raise any major issues. Establish frameworks and make recommendations to the decision-making bodies and committees concerned
  • Represent your unit in dealings with senior management committees and decision-making bodies

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience executing architecture files as part of large-scale projects
  • Experience developing solutions based on web technologies (.Net and/or Java) for various use cases
  • Experience implementing insurance or brokerage software (an asset)
