Director of Information Technology

Attuned to, and intrigued by, technological advances, you have an organized and creative mindset and a customer focus that drive you to deliver innovative information technology solutions to effectively support business operations. This is an exceptional opportunity to do just that.

The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), centrally located in downtown Toronto, is the governing body for registered nurses (RNs), registered practical nurses (RPNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) in Ontario, Canada. The nursing profession has been self-regulating in Ontario since 1963. Self-regulation is a privilege granted to those professions that have shown they can put the interests of the public ahead of their own professional interests. It recognizes that Ontario's nurses have the knowledge and expertise to regulate themselves as individual practitioners and to regulate their profession in collaboration with members of the public  through the College.

Led by the Executive Director and CEO, the College works in partnership with employers, educators and government so that everyone in Ontario benefits from quality nursing services. As the new Director of Information Technology, you will contribute meaningfully to this goal by directing the formulation and execution of Information Technology multi-year plans to support CNO's regulatory and business operations, and overseeing the optimization of IT strategies and programs that support CNO's vision, mission and mandate, and advance the goals of CNO's strategic plan. In particular, you will be accountable for the design and implementation of a modern information technology environment using both internal and external resources.

Committed to excellence and with a track record of successful leadership, using an active and practical approach, you will provide leadership to the Technology Infrastructure and Technology Applications teams to achieve the College's strategic goals. You will collaborate with other teams to develop an overall vision and strategy, including architectural design for data and systems, build out business capabilities and establish clear, measurable benchmarks for success.

Success will be measured by results achieved and activities will span from the development, acquisition, maintenance, and operations of CNO's technology capabilities, to identifying and implementing enabling technologies for use by employees and members. Able to think and act strategically and proactively, you have a big picture approach to planning and are comfortable dealing with concepts while being attentive to the details. Your finger is on the technology pulse – as a thought leader, you are always aware of new trends and the technologies behind them, and advocating for their adoption in business operations.

To be considered for the role of Director, Information Technology, you will have a proven track record of success in management and strategic leadership positions, including at least 7 to 10 years in software engineering, information technology and/or computer sciences roles, plus a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or an equivalent field with master's level preparation in Business Administration or Computer Science.

A strong leader with demonstrated success as a senior manager in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, you know how to inspire and motivate all levels of staff, and ensure alignment with CNO's culture and values. Your superb oral, written and presentation communication skills will enable you to make technical issues and solutions understandable to broad, non-technical audiences, while your strong customer service orientation will drive your ability to solve conflict creatively with multiple stakeholders regarding conflicting demands for time and resources.

Technically savvy, you bring expertise with acquisition and management of cloud technology services gained through research, implementation/transition, and multiple cycles of utilization. This is combined with a working technical knowledge of Microsoft-based computing and network infrastructure, application implementation and operations, Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft Web Applications, and Microsoft Business Intelligence and Analytics, firewalls, VoIP telephony systems, backup/storage solutions, cloud technologies and services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and mobile device management. You also have knowledge of governance standards and frameworks such as ITIL, ISO 270001, ITSM, or COBIT, and of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.

Leading by example, you will demonstrate strong project management and planning skills with a bias toward action, business acumen with success in estimating resources and time requirements to complete complex work, and the ability to expertly apply agile principles and practices.

To apply for this pivotal technology leadership role, submit your application to Phelps, at *******************************@***********.***********@***********.**, specifying the job title in the subject line of your e-mail. Application deadline: February 28, 2020.
