Primary Objectives:

Reporting to the Vice President, Operations with a dotted line (communications) reporting to the Vice President, Research, Innovation and Programs, the Project Manager, Digital is responsible for the successful planning, management and implementation of a variety of technology infrastructure projects as well as technology innovation projects that help to advance MedicAlert’s mission. This position must ensure delivery of quality, cost and deliverable targets. The role will build, manage, and motivate cross-functional project teams using both internal and external resources.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Manage external system implementation teams, i.e. provide direction to vendors to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the desired outcomes (including quality), on time, and on budget.
  • Manage internal project teams to ensure the delivery of project elements in coordination with the needs of the external implementer.
  • Formulate and update project plans, and maintain schedules, using own, or vendor-prescribed tools.
  • Coordinate with external project teams as required for collaborative projects, to ensure timely and effective delivery of desired outcomes.
  • Provide regular written and verbal progress updates to the Executive Team, including planned and actual effort and budget for the individual projects.
  • Review and monitor progress against the project plans to ensure outputs are delivered to time and quality specifications.
  • Manage risks, issues, and resources to facilitate milestone dates to be achieved by the team and external implementers.
  • Escalate issues and risks as required per defined project governance.
  • Manage projects within the agreed budget, applying the defined change management processes when required.
  • Report project progress in line with stated policies and procedures within the organization, including ensuring that any requests for information on projects from the funding body, the Executive Team and other senior staff within the organization are answered in a timely manner.
  • To establish teams, in consultation with other parts of the organization, to ensure the efficient delivery of projects.
  • Be responsible for the efficient running of these teams by setting project objectives and working within a matrix management environment.
  • Manage project budgets.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • University degree in business, operations management, IT, software engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large scale, multi-component IT projects
  • Demonstrated experience in high-pressure environments
  • 10+ years’ experience in Project Management
  • Project management qualification, e.g. PMP, preferred
  • Solid understanding of project management frameworks such PMBOK, Lean, Agile, Scrum, CCPM and/or PRINCE2
  • Demonstrated implementing of Cloud / SaaS solutions
  • Significant vendor management experience
  • Developing a team approach with required support channels in place
  • Developing cross-functional working relationships
  • Managing projects throughout complete project lifecycle
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and to budget
  • Managing of cross-functional project teams
  • Demonstrated influencing & negotiation skills
  • Project planning, resource management, change management and budget management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive experience with project management tools
  • Demonstrated capability to manage project change
  • Data analysis capabilities
  • Dispute resolution experience
  • Results-focused, team player with a flexible approach and the ability to influence and motivate others
  • Preferred experience implementing HubSpot solutions
  • Preferred experience implementing relational database solutions
  • Preferred experience of working within not-for-profit sector (healthcare)
