Role Purpose:

Director Platform Delivery, Platform Engineering - Global Banking and Markets Engineering is responsible for overseeing the delivery of key projects in relation to DevOps and Platform Engineering's wider mandate. The Director will be a key part of the GBME Platform Engineering leadership, focusing on interfacing with application teams and contributing to the strategy and success of the wider teams mandate.

The incumbent will also work closely with our technology architecture and infrastructure teams to remove barriers through automation, process simplification and identifying ways to enable app teams to deliver faster. You will leverage your technical knowledge with proven project management skills to manage a broad range of tasks and deliverables, enabling positive cultural change through automation.

Accountabilities

• Responsible for the delivery of key initiatives within Platform Engineering, leading small to medium size teams as required.
• Ability to work with executives from across the technology spectrum, winning support for ideas and influencing positive change.
• Defining and delivering strategy for the simplification of existing processes, through automation.
• Ability to leverage technical expertise to aid in the decision-making process and help application teams in the delivery of modern, stable and secure systems.
• Work across GBME Platform Engineering to help establish standardized processes, KPI's and SLA's.
• Willingness to deep-dive into datasets to understand a problem and provide meaningful insights with minimal direction.
• Prior experience running Software Upgrade programs, addressing technical debt or other application maintenance programs at scale.
• Financial and Vendor Management.

Education and Experience

• Strong background in automation of manual or repetitive tasks.
• Broad technology background, with in-depth expertise in at least 1-2 areas.
• Strong project management skills, comfortable working with PMO tools and frameworks.
• Prior experience of on-prem, private cloud and public cloud (GCP, Azure, AWS) an asset.
• Passion for driving teams towards high performance and a deep pride in quality engineering.
• 7+ years in a senior technology or engineering field.
• Team leadership and people management experience.
