Type: Two positions :

  • Full time/permanent; and
  • Full time/term - 16 months term position

Overall job purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Director, the primary area of responsibility for the Strategic Advisor, Granting is grant management, including managing the full lifecycle of grants from concept to closing, researching and analyzing existing and new projects as well as managing granting partnerships.

Key responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, analyze, and recommend grants and partnerships through research and due diligence, based on the Foundation’s strategic framework and issue focus.
  • Manages grant making processes in the inquiry, application, approval, monitoring, and reporting phases according to the established granting priorities and guidelines, including regular inquiry and follow up with grantees as well as providing guidance to grant seekers and grantees on reporting progress and outcomes
  • Manages and coordinates the participation of selection committee members in the grant review process and the participation of subject matter experts in program reviews.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with grantees, other funders, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Prepares reports on current and emerging needs, trends, key insights and opportunities for innovation relevant to the Foundation’s grant making programs and initiatives.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation to support Grant Program reviews and evaluations ensuring integrity of grant records and grant tracking.
  • Continuous improvement and development of a comprehensive set of metrics to measure impact of grants and initiatives.
  • Prepares impact reports and other materials as required.
  • Collaborates and co-creates with Marketing & Communications to develop regular and timely communication of granting priorities, opportunities, processes, grant awards and outcomes to the Foundation’s various internal and external stakeholders including the Board, grantees, and others.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with partners and colleagues at the CMA Enterprise, in order to better understand their goals and deliverables in order to collaborate on the execution of various initiatives.
  • Maintains records of all outstanding grants, cash flow, invoice payments etc.
  • Ensure grant commitments are upheld by all parties.
  • Performs required due diligence on applicants and grantees, ensuring financial and regulatory compliance.
  • Carries out responsibilities in keeping with the Foundation’s By-Law, mission, vision, guiding principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Pursues personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the job.
  • Establishes an annual work plan including deliverables and outcomes for the position.
  • Represents the Foundation in the community.
  • Manages special projects associated with the position according to the evolving needs of the Foundation.
  • Other duties as required.

Education:

  • University degree or college diploma in a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 6-9 years in a similar role or function
  • Significant experience in nonprofit and voluntary sector management and project management
  • Past experience with relationship and/or partnership management will be considered a strong asset.
