IT Project Manager

Temporary, full-time position

This is a great time to join Peel Regional Police – one of Canada's most progressive police services – and demonstrate your project management skills and knowledge of systems procurement practices as part of our ITS Business Solutions & Apps team.

As a Project Manager – IT, you'll be responsible for co-ordinating project activities related to the procurement and implementation of infrastructure and/or application systems that are essentially departmental in nature, by taking a lead role in working both with user representatives and with Corporate IT staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

More specifically, as an IT Project Manager, you will:

  • Co-ordinate the activities of projects and other personnel assigned to the projects.
  • Participate in defining the project scope and requirements, and preparing specification documents through liaison with project sponsors.
  • Lead in the development of procurement documents (e.g. RFI/RFP).
  • Act as a consultant to project proponents/sponsors, providing technical and other advice, and assisting in feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, market research and proposed applications.
  • Lead the project team in the evaluation of vendor bids and proposals.
  • Negotiate and administer procurement and maintenance/support contracts.
  • Prepare plans and schedules, track, and report on, progress and variances, and apply or recommend solutions.
  • Ensure that appropriate documentation of systems is in place, including operational procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

In the role of Project Manager – IT, you will apply the following education, experience and skills:

  • A university degree in a computer- or business-related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in information systems implementation.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of related computer applications pertinent to the function.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate computer hardware and software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems procurement practices and contracting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and Project Management skills.
  • Effective oral and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated written communication, report-writing, analytical, research and problem-solving skills.

The wage range for this temporary, full-time position is $33.14 to $55.84 per hour.
