We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in the full-time position of Mechanical Project Manager in Guelph, ON.

The Project Manager reports to and takes direction from the President, Hy-Mark. The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to ensure overall project performance including costs, schedule, quality, and project status. In this leadership role you create the environment to develop highly talented team members working together and daily, reach for exceptional performance and profitability; guiding a project from tendering through completion of construction. 

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will play a key role in our success as you:

  • Follow and consistently demonstrate Reid's Heritage Group of Companies Core Values and Leadership Drivers
  • Manage and oversee Mechanical projects of varying sizes and complexity
  • Provide clear, detailed and effective written and oral communication to team members, clients, and all other project stakeholders
  • Supervise the project team, providing training, coaching and mentoring to team members and helping them to develop and grow in their knowledge and abilities
  • Provide overall management, administration, and technical direction for the project (or multiple projects)
  • Maintain client relationship, providing continuous, thorough documented communication, ensuring client is fully up to date on project status regarding schedule, cost, and quality, constantly monitoring client's disposition and ensuring professional and quality services
  • Evaluate customer design proposals and specifications to determine cost-effective solutions
  • Lead the team to ensure technical accuracy of project deliverables
  • Achieve cost-effective, safe and timely completion of projects
  • Manage project activities throughout lifecycle, including the allocation of adequate resources, documentation and other factors necessary for success
  • Work with clients to deliver a successful project
  • Prepare and review specification and concept reports
  • Develop new business opportunities with client by establishing a strong working relationship
  • Provide detailed review and analysis of project drawings and specifications – document and communicate deficiencies; review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials; and ensure approvals for options are approved and budget, schedule and documents are updated
  • Monitor project information flow and assist in pursuing documents to ensure timely processing
  • Set standard for collaborative working relationships among team members, other departments, project teams, owners, and consultants

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will apply the following qualifications:

  • Commitment to our organization's progressive culture, including our company Core Values and Leadership Drivers
  • Post-secondary diploma, degree or certification in Project Management, Estimating, or Engineering, or equivalent trade/industry experience
  • Minimum of 3 to 7 years' project management experience working in the Mechanical industry, design or construction field
  • Previous construction trade experience (piping and/or HVAC), an asset
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code and local plumbing, gas and HVAC codes
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency (advanced Excel skills)
  • Familiarity with industry software such as McCormick, Accubid, Quickpen and/or similar, an asset
  • Proven leadership and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Valid driver's licence and clean driver's abstract.
