CAPITAL PROJECT COORDINATOR
The Capital Project Office, working on behalf of the Board of Education of School District 36 Surrey (SD36), is seeking a skilled Project Coordinator to assist with the implementation of over half a billion dollars in capital construction projects over the next decade.
As the largest and fastest growing school district in BC, SD36 is a progressive, dynamic and fast growing school district, offering a wide range of educational programs and opportunities for more than 73,000 learners. The district supports more than 10,800 employees including over 6,200 teachers at 125 schools with over $690 million operating budget. Growing by up to 1000 students per year, the need for new schools and school upgrades are constant.
The Capital Project Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation and completion of major capital projects ranging in values from $0.5M to $90M. This project work involves technical, contractual, planning and financial activities required for capital project delivery. The work involves assisting the Capital Project Managers with the execution of new school construction, additions and major renovation projects (seismic, building envelope and mechanical upgrades), within long-term maintenance considerations and budget limitations.
Reporting to the Associate Director, the Capital Project Coordinator assists the Project Managers in all aspects of project execution. This involves interfacing with architects, consultants, contractors and the City of Surrey. This position also liaises with school administrators and various district staff on behalf of the Capital Project Office. The employee is able to execute tasks under limited direct supervision and manages their time to work on several projects simultaneously.
Skills and Attributes
Required Education, Experience and Certification
University graduation in Engineering or Architecture or Registered Quantity Surveyor or graduate of an Institute of Technology. Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certificate in Project Management or a Project Management Professional designation from PMI is desirable.
