The Information Technology (IT) Manager provides leadership and support to the District with respect to all digital resources. The IT Manager reports to the –Secretary Treasurer. The IT Manager supports key district projects and initiatives, including those related to technology infrastructure, security, software, procurement, communication, and education for staff and students in support of the District Strategic Plan. In addition, the IT Manager is responsible for consulting with members of the District Leadership Team, District Management, operations staff, and service providers. The position requires a high degree of competency in multiple areas including resourcefulness and the ability to take initiative.
The IT Manager will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, together with advanced organizational and interpersonal abilities. Work is performed independently, with limited direction, and requires the utmost in confidentiality and diplomacy. The IT Manager will project a positive image with staff, visitors, and parents and promote respectful relationships with all stakeholders.
The IT Manager supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the IT Systems Specialists. The IT Manager attracts, develops, and retains members of the IT Team. The duties of the position include personnel supervision, evaluation, discipline, hiring, casual replacement, orientation of new personnel, training, coordination of work and project management and working with highly confidential and sensitive information.
The ideal candidate would possess:
• Post secondary degree in information systems, computer sciences, or similar field;
• Proven leadership skills and a team approach to managing employees and working with fellow team members;
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to make decisions independently;
• Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation;
• Expertise in data centre management and data governance; and
• A high level of integrity, superior work ethic and organizational skills.
The ideal candidate would have the ability to:
• Provide operational direction to IT team, ensuring the achievement of IT objectives, including budgeting, expense control, productivity, and the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations,
• Manage IT staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance;
• Perform purchasing duties for infrastructure and equipment (e.g. servers, hardware, software, devices) while operating within strict budget frameworks;
• Design, develop, implement, coordinate, and maintain systems, internal networks, policies and procedures;
• Ensure continuous security of data, network access and backup systems;
• Understand and manage FOIPPA requests, Information Technology governance and data breaches;
• Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy;
• Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time;
• Audit systems and assess outcomes by implementing workflow standards;
• Work with district and school-based staff to plan, develop, evaluate and implement technology based educational software and applications;
• Lead the development of the District Technology Plan; and
• Work collaboratively to build a positive and progressive workplace culture.
• Prioritize job duties and advise the Secretary Treasurer of any issues requiring urgent action.
• Provide accurate, timely, and compliant reports meeting strict deadlines.
• Deal with highly confidential and sensitive issues with a high degree of diplomacy and confidentiality.

Salary range for the opportunity is $86,674 – $108,342.
