An exciting opportunity awaits! 

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Infrastructure Engineer to play a pivotal role in contributing to the long-term design, planning, and implementation of BC Housing's Information Technology Infrastructure for both Cloud and On-Premise technologies.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll also be participating in governance and automation solutions to optimize and support ongoing infrastructure to meet our current and future needs. You will also serve as mentor and leader to the Infrastructure, Endpoint, and Service Desk support teams through extensive collaboration and regular delivery of training and knowledge transfer sessions.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Collaborating with the Manager, Infrastructure Engineering and the Sr. Manager, IT Technology Services in long-term planning for Cloud and on-premise opportunities.
  • Contributing ideas and recommendations towards strategic infrastructure projects.
  • Contributing ideas and expertise in collaboration with the Infrastructure Engineering Manager and Sr. Manager, Technology Service in the development of best practices for Continuous Integration (CI) infrastructure, building the infrastructure CI pipeline, and infrastructure automation network via a robust infrastructure including compute, network, storage, monitoring, and cloud maintenance tool sets.
  • Actively participating in team activities to recommend architecture improvements, recommending process improvements and conducting tool evaluations.
  • Contributing to planning and implementation of software-defined infrastructure architectures to enable hybrid Cloud IT initiatives
  • Developing continuous integration, deployment, and infrastructure automation research for Cloud services and on-premise solutions as assigned.
  • Developing, Testing, and Implementing modernization of monitoring frameworks
  • Advancing the socialization of infrastructure technology and automation solutions by preparing and delivering presentations to technical and non-technical staff.
  • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the automation stack for on-premise and Cloud technologies.
  • Serving as mentor and leader to the Infrastructure, Endpoint, and Service Desk support teams through extensive collaboration and regular delivery of training and knowledge transfer sessions.
  • Providing technical expertise for IMT infrastructure issues escalated to the Infrastructure Engineering team.

You'll be a great fit for this role if you have a degree or diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science, and eight (8) years' advanced-level experience in administration and configuration of enterprise-grade IT Infrastructurein a corporate environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

You will possess demonstrated technical configuration, implementation and expert level support expertise for the following technologies:

  • Cloud Service Provider service offering (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud)
  • Identity Management and Access Management Technologies
  • Microsoft O365 • Network Architecture and Technologies
  • Telephony and Collaboration Technologies
  • Encryption and Security Technologies
  • Server and LAN/WAN hardware, network administration

You will also possess the following: 

  • Advanced technical knowledge of infrastructure technologies and awareness of new technology trends and opportunities
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Project Management framework
  • Ability to support multiple initiatives, adapt to changing priorities, coordinate work with other team members, and keep IT management apprised of major issues and status
  • Ability to provide knowledge, expertise, training and advice to IT and business unit staff regarding infrastructure technologies
  • Excellent aptitude to generate and articulate new ideas and adapt quickly to new technologies
  • Experience planning, researching, designing, and qualifying Cloud and on-premise infrastructure solutions
  • Experience supporting projects involving the deployment and testing of new technologies introduced to infrastructure hardware or software environment

Finally, you will possess two or more of the following Professional Certification(s) in good standing:

  • Microsoft MCSE or MCSA or equivalent
  • Amazon AWS Associate Certification or equivalent
  • VMWare certification (VCAP or VCDX)
  • Citrix certification (CCP-V/N, CCE-V/N, CC-VAD-CC) or equivalent
  • Cisco certification (CCNP – Cloud/Collaboration/Data Centre/Routing-Switching) or equivalent
