Your future role on our team
The BBA team is seeking a senior project manager with in-depth experience of the renewable power sector to perform environmental impact studies and requests for permits and approvals. The Environmental department carries out various mandates (biophysical assessments, biophysical and social and impact studies, approval and permit applications) related to developing and carrying out projects in the power sector across Canada and abroad.
As an Environmental Specialist and project manager, you'll provide regulatory leadership and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of project managers, environmental professionals and engineers to provide our clients with practical solutions. You'll be responsible for coordinating and implementing studies and regulatory applications for CAPEX/OPEX projects in Canadian provincial jurisdictions, with a focus in Western Canada, and also be involved in BBA's Chile office operations.

Operations (billable 70% of the time)
· Develop, coordinate and carry out environmental studies, environmental management projects and environmental impact assessments. Projects will target the energy (hydroelectricity, wind and solar power, biofuels, H2, etc.), industrial, infrastructure and land-use planning sectors.
· Lead environmental aspects of applications/reports to facilitate regulatory approvals in concert with project team and/or project managers.
· Lead the completion of environmental impact assessments and other related studies as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Liaise with clients, stakeholders, regulatory agencies and appropriate industry-related organizations to maintain expertise of market-sector trends and regulatory permitting requirements.
· Oversee the writing of high-quality scientific and technical reports, including regulatory submission documents.
· Lead and/or participate in proposal preparation (strategy, work plan, budget, etc.).
· Manage and lead multidisciplinary projects, including budget and schedule management, client liaison and technical leadership and coordinate project teams through the appropriate regulatory processes.
· Develop methodologies and prepare sampling plans and data entry.
· Conduct and/or participate in field surveys.
Business development (15 to 20% of the time)
· Develop constructive business relationships during project implementation to encourage repeat business.
· Promote cross-selling of expertise to existing clients.
· Promote BBA's environmental services, both internally to colleagues and externally to clients and future clients.
Team leadership (5% to 10% of the time - Will evolve as the team grows)
· Supervise team members to establish the schedule, distribution of responsibilities, work methods and allocation of human and financial resources.
· Plan and manage meetings, both internal with team members and external with other relevant players or subcontractors.
· Ensure that information flows within the team and that team members provide information that is appropriate, timely, complete and properly analyzed and presented.
· Serve as a mentor for young professionals within the group.
Corporate component (5 to 10% of the time)
· Participate in developing and implementing the Environment group's strategies, in collaboration with senior management, to stimulate the Environment group's growth.
· Get involved in innovation, new service development and communication projects for the Environment group.
