As a member of our Infrastructure group, you will provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of various infrastructure projects, such as: roadways, highways and interchanges; bridges and overpasses; water and wastewater treatment facilities; transmission lines; general/public transportation including airports, seaports and light rail transit lines (LRTs); and conventional and alternative power generation like wind farms and district energy facilities. You will also further hone your skills operating under various delivery methods including Design-Build, P3 (Public-Private Partnership), Construction Management and IPD (Integrated Project Delivery).

About The Role

Reporting to the Vice President, the Operations Manager must have Infrastructure construction industry field experience and is responsible for planning, organizing and directing.

As an Operations Manager at Graham your role will include:  

  • Supports and empowers Project Managers and other direct reports to execute projects on time and on budget
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with public and private sector clients, construction joint-venture partners, financing partners, key specialist sub-contractors, as well as other stakeholders such as design teams, suppliers and user groups that reflect and support Graham core values
  • Oversees the sub-contracting process, which includes facilitating initial scope review meetings, finalizing agreed processes, developing subcontract scopes of work, and managing the subcontract distribution and final execution process
  • Develops and recommends short-term operating budgets, and assists the Vice President with longer-term planning
  • Accountable to ensure that project schedules, milestone dates and closeout checklists are prepared and maintained during the project lifecycles
  • Oversees project administration and operations
  • Able to provide clear direction, targets and provide strong leadership to the construction team, designers and sub-contractors
  • Plans, organizes, directs and has the ability to look at alternative techniques to achieve target and budgets
  • Lead staff development which includes: mentoring, training, coaching, and professional development
  • Review and approval all Operations Unit tender submissions
  • Ensure quality in all work for clients, and demonstrate a strong commitment to HSEQ
  • Reviewing all Operations labour cost reports and forecasts; looking for early warning signs of trouble, developing plans and implements action to improve project outcomes
  • Monthly review with Project Managers of all operations projects. Project cost analysis and forecasted costs

To be Successful at Graham, you will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Civil Engineering Degree
  • At least 5 years construction industry experience in a Senior Management level position
  • Must have 8 years' experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure projects working for a General Contractor
  • Expereince working on infrastructure projects valued at least 1 billion dollars
  • Experience in self performing construction in transit, highways, roads, earthwork and bridge construction
  • An experienced leader with the ability to train, coach and inspire team members
  • Results focused with a proven track record in achieving operational goals
  • English Fluency required

   Compensation and Benefits:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada for anyone other than the current employer.
  • This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, permanent role.
  • Competitive salary ($170,000.00 to $190,000.00) with a potential of an annual bonus, and potential of annual merit increase.
